We welcome junior and senior high school students and brides-to-be from all over Louisiana who are in financial need of a dress or who are on the federal free or reduced-price lunch program. No proof of financial need is required. Students must bring a valid high school ID. Simply attend the event and walk out with a dress that you love!
On the day you want to come to the Dress Giveaway (either Saturday or Sunday), grab your 2009 – 2010 high school ID and head to the A.C. Lewis Branch of the YMCA in Baton Rouge. Please bring a parent, guardian or family member over the age of 18 with you. Men will not be allowed in dressing rooms. Parking is free.
You do not need to pre-register. But because of limited dressing room space, you may have to wait to begin shopping. But don't worry! There will be hundreds of gowns in all
sizes and styles, so you’ll have plenty of beautiful options from which
to choose!
You will have
30-minutes to shop for a dress. A Cinderella Project volunteer
personal shopper will guide you through our extensive dress inventory and help you pick out the perfect dress.
Once you've danced the night away at your prom or wedding, don't forget to send us a picture of you in that beautiful dress! We will post pictures on our website for everyone to see! Send pictures to: students@cinderellaprojectbr.org.
Unfortunately, we cannot distribute dresses prior to nor after the Dress Giveaway in April. Have more questions? Check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
If your prom will take place before the Dress Giveaway on April 10 and 11,
AmeriCorps at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette is hosting a
similar prom dress event on Saturday, March 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at
the United Way warehouse in Lafayette
(215 E. Pinhook Road). For more information, contact Lacey Shelton, Assistant Director of AmeriCorps, at 337-262-1360 or lns9795@louisiana.edu.
